Airport open house and taxiway and runway closures on Saturday 9/8/18
9/05/2018
This Saturday we will be holding our annual open house at Reid-Hillview Airport. As in past years there are many activities to enjoy throughout the day. This year’s event will include static displays of aircraft, automobiles and military vehicles. There will be two different bands and a radio controlled air show between 12:30 and 1:30. There will also be several food options, including ribs, tacos, waffles and sno-cones.
Beginning around 7:00 A.M. on Saturday, access to the airport will be limited with no airport access from Cunningham Avenue. Only one-way traffic will be allowed down Swift Avenue from the Tully and Capitol Expressway Intersection and vehicles will exiting the airport onto Ocala Avenue. Access to the aircraft parking ramp will be through the Swift Avenue gate. The linked tenant Access Pass is your key to driving through that gate. It includes a map and must be shown to personnel at the gate to obtain access to the aircraft parking ramp.
There will be several taxilane closures to facilitate this event. The inside ramp between H and G will be closed from 8:00 A.M. Friday to 8:00 P.M. Saturday.
The following taxilanes and taxiways will be closed between 7:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M on Saturday.
- Taxilane Z between D and E.
- Taxiway G
- Taxiway H
- Taxiway I
In addition to the taxiway and taxilane closures, the airport will be closed to all air traffic between 12:15 P.M. and 2:00 P.M. on Saturday for the model aircraft show. Please plan accordingly.
If your aircraft is parked in a hangar on H or I row and you would like to fly on Saturday, you will need to contact Femi Odunbaku at (408) 918-7707 or [email protected] to arrange for a temporary parking space. If your aircraft is parked on a tie-down on H or I row your airplane will need to be moved by this Friday at 4:00 P.M. If you are not able to move the airplane, airport operations staff will be happy to move it for you. Please contact Femi to coordinate.
There are still a few display aircraft slots available. If you are interested, please contact Greg Hobbs at Tradewinds as he is coordinating the aircraft display. [email protected] or (408) 729-5100.
This event has become a big hit with the neighbors and is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the value of the airport. Please come on out and enjoy a wonderful day at your airport.
